Behaviour Zone
This is a hot topic in modern teaching; it takes up most of our time in school, gives some teachers sleepless nights and takes away talent from teaching. This topic, together with unwise Government policies are damaging teaching. The Guardian (2015) reports that 4 out of 10 new teachers leave teaching within a year. Grim stats!

We cannot change policy decisions but we can help you with tools to build positive working relationships with the young people under your care, hence continue to be fulfilled and rewarded by your chosen profession.
Terms
There are various perspectives on this topic, hence the range of terminology e.g.

Behaviour management- We view this as carrying negative connotations e.g Authoritarian teacher responsible for controlling these young miscreants who are unable to do so themselves. Bad starting point!
Behaviour for learning- Preferred by those who see pupil behavior as linked to the study material.
Classroom climate-Preferred by those who want to emphasize the prevailing moods and feeling within the classroom.
Children as human beings
Human beings are:
Biological organisms
Psychological organisms
Social (Sociological) organisms
So the way we act is driven by a mixture of these dimensions; we are very complex. This makes the task of managing relationships very difficult. A teacher who is good at 'behaviour management' thinks across all these perspectives to deal with a situation.
